What is Smoketree extract fisetin?

Fisetin is a natural flavonol that belongs to the flavonoid group of polyphenols. It exists in many fruits , vegetables and plants, such as strawberries, tomatoes, onions , Acacia greggii, parrot tree, Quebracho colorado and others . Our fisetin is extracted from Smoketree (Cotinus coggygria Scop).

Food sources with the highest concentration of fisetin include (micrograms of fisetin per gram of freeze-dried food):

.Strawberries (160)

.Apples (27)

.Persimmons (11)

.Lotus root (6)

.Onions (5)

.Grapes (4)

.Kiwi (2)

Fisetin has powerful anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-cancer properties

How does Smoketree extract fisetin work?

Like most polyphenols, fisetin is a powerful antioxidant, which explains or partly explains many of its effects.

Secondly, it blocks an inflammatory switch known as NF-kB. Block this protein complex and you help thwart the evil plans of cancers, allergies, and autoimmune diseases.

Fisetin also influences mTOR, a kinase that acts as kind of a cellular switch. Having higher levels of mTOR after a workout is a good thing as it helps you grow muscle, but having perpetually high mTOR levels is associated with a variety of diseases. Fisetin could be used to modulate mTOR levels to your advantage.

What is Smoketree extract fisetin supplement benefits ?

. Fisetin for brain health

Researchers have found that fisetin operates in a very specific pathway to boost nerve cell glutathione levels and to reduce one of the most damaging free radicals, peroxynitrite. Scientists have determined that the natural compound protects nerve cells from damage during stroke, while at the same time maintaining vital energy production in the brain. Fisetin also prevents excess activation of specialized glial cells in the brain that helps deter inflammatory nerve damage, excitotoxicity, and declining neurological health. And fisetin reduces amyloid beta fiber accumulation to improve memory and thwart cognitive decline.

Experiments on rat have shown that fisetin can easily cross the blood-brain barrier in mice, and activates pathways in the brain involved in storing memories, it improved the memory retention and learning abilities of old rats.

Fisetin also reduced depression in mice by increasing levels of serotonin and noradrenaline, neurotransmitters that play key roles in mood. It also reduced depression and anxiety in mice caused by nerve pain

.Fisetin for fat loss

Fisetin inhibits lipid accumulation and inhibits the expression of 3t3-l1 PPARγcells. Also, Fisetin suppressed early stages of preadipocyte differentiation, and induced expression of Sirt1. Depletion of Sirt1 abolished the inhibitory effects of fisetin on intracellular lipid accumulation and on PPARγ expression. Mechanistically, fisetin facilitated Sirt1-mediated deacetylation of PPARγ and FoxO1, and enhanced the association of Sirt1 with the PPARγ promoter, leading to suppression of PPARγ transcriptional activity, thereby repressing adipogenesis.

smoketree extract Fisetin Slows aging process

.Fisetin Slows aging process

Senescence is the major reason people ages, the cells stop dividing as it becomes older. Fisetin seems to be a powerful “senolytic” in that it helps the aging body rid itself of senescent cells (cells that stopped dividing) that normally lead to inflammation and reduced lifespan if left to foster. Research was conducted on mice fed with fistein rich diets which showed that mice lived longer and bodies worked better even at old age.

Study also shown that fisetin activates SIRT-1 which is a gene that is related with long lifespan and is often referred to as longevity gene. Dietary supplement with strawberry extract promoted activity of rats in rodent model of accelerated aging.

.Fisetin for anti-cancer

Fisetin has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in laboratory studies .The study evaluated the effects of fisetin against melanoma and cancers of the prostate, pancreas and the lungs. Using prostate and lung adenocarcinoma cells, the researchers observed that fisetin acts as a dual inhibitor of the PI3K/Akt and the mTOR pathways. This is a significant finding considering the fact that mTOR is phosphorylated and its activation is more frequent in tumors with overexpression of PI3K/Akt. Dual inhibitors of PI3K/Akt and mTOR signaling have been suggested as valuable agents for treating such cancers. The reaserchers summarize their findings on the dietary flavonoid fisetin and its effects on cancer with particular focus on prostate cancer. Their observations and findings from other laboratories suggest that fisetin could be a useful chemotherapeutic agent that could be used either alone or as an adjuvant with conventional chemotherapeutic drugs for the management of prostate and other cancers.

Smoketree extract fisetin recommended dosage

Currently, there is no proven safe or effective dose for fisetin, however, it is generally accepted that the dose should be 50-150mg daily. But an appropriate dose depends on several factors such as the user’s age, health, and several other conditions. Please consult your dietitian for an appropriate dose before you supplement.
